Opening Doors, funded by Status of Women Canada, is a unique program which examines the barriers immigrant women face when seeking employment in Peel. Opening Doors aims to engage immigrant women and various stakeholders in Peel to develop and implement strategies to help improve immigrant women’s economic prosperity. This project hopes to dismantle barriers to immigrant women’s economic success by engaging immigrant women so their voices can be heard and encourage changes in local policies to meet women’s needs.

Key Activities:

  • Examining barriers, needs, and priorities through focus groups with immigrant women
  • Conference presenting findings and soliciting feedback
  • Second year of project will involve piloting strategies
